Everyone has a well-loved trope. One of my tip-top most beloved tropes is second chance romance. I get all the super, mega, ultra heart eyes just typing that out. So not only was this cover a massive READ ME NOW to me, but the premise was as well.
Sadly, I’ve come to a place where I don’t trust either. So I entered this read with all the hope and slight trepidation I’ve come to have with every book I read.
I am THRILLED to share that The Last Rule of Makeups not only met my every hope and wish, it far exceeded it. This is one of the most well-crafted books I’ve ever read and will easily be in my top 5 reads for 2020. And with the year we’ve had? Y’all this was the read I didn’t even realize I needed.
Now, I’ll say, this was my first Nina Crespo novel, but by fifty percent I’d already snagged a copy of each of the first two books in the Breakup Bash series. And I’ll take this opportunity to say that you can easily read The Last Rule of Makeups with zero issue if you’ve not read the first two. But make no mistake, you’ll be salivating for more by the end.
I’ll say that while I didn’t personally feel the prologue was needed, I immediately connected with Cori when she showed her love of red soled shoes. Yeah, I’m a shameless shoe whore and Loubies are my catnip. So me and Cori? Sole. Sisters. Speaking is most definitely correct.
Grey is the most decadently delicious leading man and if you want a book boyfriend… look elsewhere. This one is mine. I licked all over my ereader screen to claim his fabulous self.
I can’t possibly recommend The Last Rule of Makeups enough for its rich detail, expertly crafted scenes, fiery sex scenes, and a fulfilling happily ever. It’s a light enough read you can easily devour it in an afternoon. Ask me how I know…
If you don’t see me for a few days I’m lost in Alexa and Natalie’s respective stories.
